Shaking it Out in Hamburg with TriDot & HOKA
In May, my wife Katie and I traveled to Hamburg for the IRONMAN World Championship—both of us proud TriDot coaches and ambassadors. We were excited not only to race but also to represent TriDot and support athletes as they prepared for the big day. The atmosphere was electric, with athletes from all over the world buzzing with pre-race anticipation.
One of the highlights of the weekend was co-hosting a shake-out run and Q&A in partnership with HOKA. The day before the race, athletes gathered at the HOKA Run Hub to loosen up their legs, settle the nerves, and soak in the energy. Alongside fellow ambassador Paul Kane, I helped lead the warm-up—keeping things light, fun, and supportive. Smiles quickly spread through the group as we previewed the run course around the lake and through Hamburg’s beautiful parks.
During the run, I shared a few practical tips and coping strategies for race day. One of my favorites? When you feel those pre-race butterflies, think of them as “energy bubbles.” They’re not something to get rid of—they’re proof that you care, and you’ll need that energy on race day!
Afterwards, Katie and I joined the athletes for a light breakfast hosted by HOKA. The relaxed setting turned into the perfect chance for first-timers to ask questions, swap stories, and build confidence before toeing the line.
To any fellow ambassadors or coaches considering supporting events like this—from sprints to full distance—I can only say: go for it. The chance to give back, encourage others, and represent TriDot is an experience that will leave you feeling on top of the world.
